Mountains- Rapid change in elevation over a short distance. Mountains have high altitudes because two continental plates pushed against each other forming a large "bump" in the ground.

Flora- Plants of the mountains have adapted to harsh environments like the cold by staying close to the ground. Moss Campion hugs the ground to keep warm. The wild potato has adapted to the extreme temperature fluctuations.

Climate- The climate of the mountains is very similar to that of the tundra's. The average temperature is between -10*C and 12*C. The average precipitation is 30cm a year.

Fauna- Animals of mountains have adapted to the rock terrain. Mountain goat have strong feet to suit the rocky terrain. Animals also have a thick coat of fir to keep the heat in. Alpacas have thick fur.
